Over the past fortnight, we’ve been delighted to present 100 Jobs & Business Glasgow customers with their own brand new Chromebook device, equipped with 2 years free Wi-Fi access.
The pandemic has changed the way we interact.
While we might all be experiencing the same storm we are not all in the same boat.
Many of us lack the digital skills or digital access needed to fully engage with the wider online community.
This can have a major impact on the success of job searching with limitations on creating a CV, applying for jobs, managing and keeping track of applications, and communicating via email and online video, which has become a new-norm for services once delivered face to face.
Thanks to the work of Connecting Scotland, these individuals will no longer face digital challenges. They aim to get 60,000 digitally excluded households online by the end of 2021. More information on the excellent work they are doing is available on their website, including advice from the Digital Champions who offer help to those receiving the devices on using the internet safely, confidently and effectively.
Our Team have been distributing the devices and have had great feedback form the recipients.
Robin, a JBG customer, on receiving his Chromebook and wifi access, said:
“This is excellent and I cannot thank everyone enough, this will allow me to look for jobs and to continue with online study which I had to give up recently due to access issues.”
