As a Trainee Environmental Officer, you will work as part of a team, to maintain and upgrade landscaped and communal areas, which will contribute towards improving the overall quality and appearance of Glasgow’s neighbourhoods.
Prior experience is not required, we will provide training on how to use the essential machinery to a safe and high standard. This will include training on pedestrian lawnmowers, strimmers, hedge cutters and blowers. All personal protective equipment will be provided.
To be selected, we need those who are willing to work flexibly with others in the team, participate in physical duties, and provide excellent customer service to those you meet while out working. Due to the unpredictable Glasgow weather, it is also essential you are comfortable working outdoors in all weather. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided.
For those who can drive, and are selected to be Drivers, increased wages will be paid for the responsibility of transporting the team to and from location. Additional training will also be provided to ensure driver competence in maintaining the van.

To be eligible for this fixed term, 26-week employment opportunity, you must be an unemployed resident of Glasgow City Council, with the right to work in the UK.
If you would like to be considered for a Drivers position, you must have a valid full driving licence.
All those selected, will earn a weekly wage, holiday entitlement, and receive other employee benefits. For this reason, it is important that you have a bank or credit union account in your name.
The role is full time, typically worked Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm. The hourly rate for Trainee Environmental Operatives is £10.90, and for additional Driver responsibilities, £11.90 per hour.
The working day will be based in locations across Glasgow, depending on need.
